We Sick a Man – Cache

Ah, it’s been a while since I’ve been out caching. Ken e-mailed a few days ago and suggested we hit the two new ones in the Pines. After work caching on a Friday for just two is about perfect these days. I scurried up Rt. 54 and then 206. In the steady rain Ken was waiting. He handed me a few things that I put into the car without inspecting them. I got a start at the gas station on the way home. 🙂

Anyhow, we donned our backpacks and crossed 206 . . .

The trail didn’t look much different than it did in June when I sought Ski‘s two caches here. The rain and the good company made this jaunt most pleasant. I turned on my GPSr at the trailhead. Past the location for MAPS and Ken announced we were close I still hadn’t locked in on the birds. A quick look at the battery life quickly explained why. B4 I had the chance, the GPSr shut off. I switched batteries, zeroed in on the birds immediately and then watched the coords jump. Yikes! 200′ error! We spent a few minutes condensing the search area. I found a way in without stickers. The GPSr counted down and lo and behold, there it was. I was surprised by the number of pencils in that cache.

There was nothing to take and I didn’t really have anything that would fit, so we signed the log and got on our way. Back out to the trail and Ken mentioned photographs. Damn! It’s been a while and I have forgotten the routine. I snapped the obligatory snapshots and we meandered back to the highway.

Wet but how wonderful!
