It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Helping Trim the Christmas Tree

I will gladly suffer the wrath of society for putting up our Christmas trees before Thanksgiving. As one who rails against the stores for pumping holidays months in advance and for shortchanging Thanksgiving, there’s a bit of hypocrisy at work here. I accept that.

Understand, however, I have no choice in the matter. My loving (and very pregnant) wife is just as obstinate particular as I am. Christmas is her thing. We decorated the first of six trees tonight. This is the “fun” tree. Clad with gaudy colored lights and draped with an equally horrendous string of lighted garland, this all sits in my living room. The Victorian tree goes in the main living room. Sigh . . .

Beetle was quite excited when the boxes began appearing tonight. She dug through and found her ugly Santa hat compliments of a local bank she wore last year. Even so, she had a blast helping decorate. She is going to love the holidays this year . . .

. . . and that includes turkey, the trimmings, and football on Thursday!
