Frank Lautenberg Poll

I just got off the telephone with a nice guy from Denver. Normally, I do not take unsolicited calls, but the topic was just too interesting: Frank Lautenberg‘s re-election to the U.S. Senate.

The interview lasted about 10 minutes. Many questions about what strategy Lautenberg should employ were asked. It stood out that the only two issues that Lautenberg has in his pocket are banning cigarette smoking and offshore oil drilling. That is not an impressive record.

It looks like ol’ Frank is preparing for a negative campaign as there were several questions about my feeling about his age. Frankly, I do not care. An 84-year old is fine with me as long as he does his job. That is Lautenberg’s fault; he doesn’t do a very good job representing New Jersey. That is not age-dependent, however.

At the end of the interview, I spoke to the interviewer. He said that it was evenly split on the reaction to Lautenberg on his calls.
