The Chisholm Trail was a wagon trail used to drive cattle from Texas to Kansas where the railroads would ship the cattle east.

The Chisholm Trail began in San Antonio and ended in Abilene. It was not a straight trail, but rather a network of feeder trails that fed into other branches. The trail was extended beyond Abilene to Wichita and then all the way to Caldwell.

This Chisholm Trail marker is located in Wichita.
