Public Photography

There has been a movement afoot the last several years to squelch the public from recording public events. Now that cameras are ubiquitous on smartphones, etc., virtually anyone can record public proceedings. Local blogger Mark Krull takes photographs from his seat on the Zoning Board.

It seems to me that in a free society, recording by the public is ultimately a good thing.

Yesterday, a reporter and another were arrested for daring to record a taxi cab meeting in our nation’s capital. How pathetic!

Indeed, if one was not previously convinced that government is out of touch with its citizens, this should be the proverbial straw.
